No.1 is the first entry in Pieces & Parts, a project conceived as a musical journal. We made its cover lettering from plaster, water and paint, allowing the material’s irregularities to guide the forms while keeping the letters recognisable. The pieces were photographed and combined with the project’s fragmented typography. Leaving room for chance in the making reflects the music’s intuitive, improvisational character.
